Peaceful Rally: Newtown-Sandy Hook One-Year Anniversary
Brady Campaign, San Diego joined with Organizing for Action (OFA) in front of the Westfield Shopping Center in Escondido to create awareness of the continuing need to pass stronger regulations to protect our communities from gun violence. Newtown could be San Diego or any city in the U.S. We are Newtown. Many shoppers gave us thumbs up, peace signs and horn honks as they drove by. See photos here »
Recent Three-Day National Brady Campaign Event Included Asking Congress to "Finish The Job"
The San Diego Brady chapter president was there!
Hundreds of gun violence prevention advocates from around the country took to the halls of Congress on November 13, 2013, calling on members to expand effective Brady background checks to online and gun show sales. The lobby day is the culmination of a three-day summit put on by the Brady Campaign that brought in hundreds of leaders and activists in the gun violence prevention movement and related organizations to discuss solutions in the areas of policy, legal action, and health and safety education. The theme of the event is "Make Your Voice Matter."

A new art exhibit is taking aim at the subject of gun violence.
“Up In Arms: A Creative Response to Gun Violence” features 100 protest posters created by about 45 artists, all dealing with firearms. The free exhibit runs through July 28 at the Steynberg Gallery in San Luis Obispo.

Petition Signing for Gun Safety
Organizing for Action will have a table to obtain signatures on a petition in favor of universal background checks on all gun purchases. The signed petitions will be presented to Rep. Darrell Issa in August to let him know that the majority of his constituents favor this legislation.
